IEEA Scholarship for Students Pursuing Careers in the Funeral Industry

The 2007 Scholarship recipients were Greg Colvin of Lebanon, Indiana and Stephen A. Williams of Chesterfield, Indiana.  Both were recognized at a luncheon ceremony at the June, 2007 IEEA Seminar and received their awards at that time.

IEEA Scholarship Information and Application for Students Pursuing Careers in the Funeral Industry

Criteria

To encourage careers in the funeral industry, the Indiana Embalmers Educational Affiliate is pleased to announce its scholarship program to qualified Indiana residents.  Please note that in order to be considered for the scholarship, you must complete the application. There are two categories of awards:  (1)  Senior high students applying for admission to an accredited funeral industry training program, or a program in the process of being accredited, and  (2)   Individuals or students continuing their funeral industry training at an accredited program. The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of need, application information, references, and/or proof of current enrollment and adequate progress in the case of an applicant who is currently enrolled in an accredited program for funeral industry training. The deadline for receiving applications for scholarship assistance for the first semester of the 2011-2012 school year is August 1, 2010.  Applicants will be notified in writing of the results by August 15, 2010.  The winning applicant will be invited to attend the November IEEA Educational Seminar to be recognized and introduced.  The scholarship may be requested for the second semester by providing first semester grades and a letter of recommendation from an instructor in the program.  The scholarship award is $250 per semester for each semester awarded.
The following criteria will be used to grant scholarships. In addition to filling out the application, the applicant must include; Instructions for Submission
·        Student must be an Indiana resident
·          Student must show financial need.
·          Student must have a good academic record.
·          Student must have a good attendance record.
·          Student must be enrolled or plan to enroll in an accredited training program for a career in the funeral industry.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

1.  A letter of application outlining the  following:
(a) Personal history  - information about your family; something about yourself, where you have lived or interesting places you have lived, what you like to do, your plans for the future, your philosophy of life, etc.
(b) Future plans for education – why you wish to pursue training that will quality you to work in the funeral industry.
 (c) Previous education – include memberships in organizations in and out of school, offices held, honors accorded you.
(d) Plans for financing your post-secondary education and why you need financial assistance.
2.  Three letters of recommendation including at least one letter from a person who is not connected with your school.  The letters should be addressed “To Whom It May Concern” and should be sent with your application.
3.  Transcript of your high school and/college grades, if applicable.
